If you have a stringed instrument that it is not financially viable to return to a good playing condition, is a complete wreck or you would simply like to donate, please bring it to us. We are involved with several charities that can make great use of instruments. Different organisations use them in different ways (please see below). Instruments in all conditions can be used and most of the donated instruments go through our workshop so that we can get them working as best we can. Luthiers Sans Frontieres (LSF) is a small international NGO and a member of the National Centre for cooperation to the Development. LSF has projects in Cuba and South America. The mission of LSF is to provide repair services to musicians, orchestras and ensembles in areas where no local services are available. Two restorers from Surrey Strings travelled to Cuba in 2002 and carried out restoration work on instruments from the violin family. There are such amazing musicians around the world with very few instruments to play on. Your donations to Surrey Strings will be sent around the world to musicians of all standards. next » |
